Bob Plamondon has an editorial in today's Globe & Mail in which he likens Harper to Macdonald.
Well, to steal and often quoted phrase: "Sir I know John A. Macdonald and Stephen Harper is no Macdonald." First of all Harper can't come close to matching Macdonald's drinking. More importantly Harper doesn't have the vision that Macdonald had. And it's that vision that turned Canada from a backwater hole into a player on the world stage.
Harper has no vision for this country. All he has are gimmicks like the GST tax cut or the latest tax cut for diesel that no doubt help him tactically but don't solve any of the real problems we are facing -- namely the economy and the environment.
Canada needs a real leader who has a vision to remake Canada before we revert to the backwater country that was Canada before Macdonald.
