Once again the NDP has turned it's guns on the Liberals. Gave the Cons the perfect opportunity to target both the Liberals and NDP as being not up to the task of governing (which was done to pretty good effect). Layton and company should keep their guns firmly where they should be aimed at Harper. I'm not sure what their strategy is. Do they want a Harper majority?
The NDP critic (can't remember her name) said the Liberal plan to tax big polluters needed pollution to go up in order to work. Huh? Someone's going to have to explain that one to me. Layton better be careful -- it would be pretty easy to attack his environmental plan. It will take years to implement cap and trade and Layton has nothing in place to reduce emissions and fund his expensive programs. On top of that I don't see anything in his plan to protect consumers from the inevitable price increases that will come from big polluters having to by carbon credits. Unless he thinks that these same companies will be so numbed by increasing their corporate tax rates that they won't think to pass on the costs to consumers. Not likely I think.
So here's some advice Mr. Layton. Keep your guns trained firmly on the real enemy. He's only a couple of weeks from a majority.
